2019 - The Beginning
Foglia d'Oro began at the flower auction in Aalsmeer, and at some of the world's finest growers. In the grading houses I watched every stem counted and judged, only the best released to the most demanding markets in the world.
Millions of flowers. More than ten thousand varieties. And almost none of it reaching India.
The question I left with was simple: what would it take to bring these here? The answer became Foglia.

I trained in advanced floral artistry for events, weddings and celebrations. It gave me a method, and a standard to hold myself to.

What I can do
I can move from a single vase to a full-scale aerial installation. An arch that works like a portal at an entrance. A tablescape. The scale changes; the eye doesn't.
What makes that possible is not ambition, it's craft. Fresh, dried and preserved botanicals behave nothing alike — different weight, different tolerance, different lifespan, different hand. Knowing how to switch between them, and how to hold flowers in the right conditions until the moment the work is finished, is most of the job. That part is unglamorous and it is where the standard actually lives.

The Work
Today I work with fresh, dried and preserved botanicals from the Netherlands and beyond, for homes, weddings, celebrations, hotels and brands. More than a hundred varieties in fresh and preserved alone. Some works begin with a single vase. Others take over a space.
I don't think learning has an end, and neither does the pursuit of excellence in a craft. What I am after is art in its first form — shape, texture, line, flow, balance. The golden ratio, taken directly from nature and returned to the work.

My Language
Flowers are my medium. I love that they are never still — they grow, open, fade, bend and change, and there is beauty in every stage, not always where you expect to find it.
A small, unassuming flower can hold as much beauty as the grandest bloom. That has always fascinated me. Flowers make you look again. They teach you that beauty is not about perfection.
What I love most is their ability to reach people. To find beauty — sometimes in the obvious, sometimes in the unexpected — and to make something that lets you feel it too.
A vase might hold a hundred stems, or a thousand. That is the number of decisions in it. Every stem is placed, and every stem that doesn't go in was a decision too.
That is the work. That is Foglia.
